CEOs from around the world agree on Sustainability

June 22, 2010

There has been a lot of talk about how big company’s are hopping on the sustainability bandwagon, but a recent survey provides some credibility to all this hearsay. A survey, by the United Nations Global Compact and Accenture, of 766 CEOs around the globe found that 93 percent of them agreed that sustainability will be a leading cause for the future success of their companies.

Their reasons for citing sustainability as a core component for future success; brand name, consumer trust and their company’s reputation.

Ok, maybe their motivation for sustainability revolves around a different kind of green then ours, but the survey shows that these company’s are already planning on producing  concrete results.

91 percent of the CEOs said their companies were going to employ technology to address sustainable issues in their companies over the next five years and 78 percent believe that they should engage in collaboration with stakeholders to address sustainable issues.

And it is not just small companies that have participated in this survey, there are at least 50 leading companies that have shared their thoughts. They include; Pepsi Co, Siemens, Goldman Sachs (Ok! Maybe not the best example now, but they used to be great) to name a few.
