One Giant Step for the Pedestrian Kind (Part II)

October 25, 2010

So here it is as promised, my silly adventure along South Providence Road. All-in-all, the journey took about 40 minutes one way, this includes play time, time to deliberate how to cross busy intersections, and conversations with random strangers. As for the grocery shopping portion of the video? It didn’t happen.

I mentioned early in the video that I forgot my wallet, and I’m not gonna lie, the intersection of Nifong and Providence scares the daylights out of me. In all fairness, the project isn’t completed yet. From the looks of it they have some more work to do to make South Providence more pedestrian friendly, but it’s safe to say, so far, Columbia has taken one giant step for pedestrian kind.

UPDATE: the portion of sidewalk near my community has been paved! Glorious!
